At the beginning, I felt strange, because it is not easy to move alone to another country without the direct support of your family. From the very trip I started facing challenges, because in one of my stopovers I missed my flight after spending so much time in migration. In that moment I thought it was a huge problem, but in the end I managed to solve it, and now I see it as part of what makes you grow, because it teaches you that you can overcome situations on your own.
I never imagined that in only one month I would be able to accomplish so many dreams. I went to my first hockey game, and the energy inside the stadium was incredible. I also had the chance to watch Robert Lewandowski play live, someone who is already close to retirement, and for me it was a dream come true. It felt like crossing something off a bucket list, a satisfaction that fills you deeply. Another personal dream was learning how to play golf. All my life I used to say, “I want to learn,” and I never found the way. Here I finally did it, and I realized that this exchange is giving me opportunities I never thought I would experience so soon.
Another unique moment was the first exchange camp. There, students from different countries came together, and I understood what this program truly means. In just a few days we went from being complete strangers to feeling like brothers and sisters, as if we had known each other for years. That bond is something special, and it only happens when you share dreams and the same adventure.
In my daily life, I am lucky to live with the Grela family: Edyta and Arkadiusz. For me, they are the best family in Poland. I cannot imagine this experience without them, because they have supported me, cared for me, and been with me every step of the way. With them I have also discovered new traditions, like going into the forest to collect mushrooms, something very typical in Poland. It was a completely new experience for me, and it made me feel even closer to the culture here. The Rotary Club Silesia has also given me strong support. Here I feel surrounded by people who believe in me and remind me of the value of this exchange. At school I have already made new friends, and little by little I am finding my place in this community.
Another part that has surprised me a lot is the food. I have tried many new dishes that I never imagined eating before, from simple snacks to traditional Polish meals. Some flavors feel strange at first, but they quickly become experiences that stay with you. Each plate tells a story, and through food I feel I am discovering another side of this country.
Today I can say with complete certainty that this was the best decision I could have ever made. An exchange is not only about traveling: it is about learning a new language, discovering another culture, becoming independent, and valuing what you have at home. Now I appreciate more the simple things, like being with my family and my friends in Mexico, things that before I sometimes took for granted. Being here has taught me that time is precious and that you must make the most of every moment, because it goes by so quickly.
Just one month has been enough for me to realize how much I am growing and how much this experience is changing me.
Only one month has passed, and I cannot even imagine what the next ones will be like.
